(research project with J. Vuckovic Group at Stanford) The Idea: - Create advanced single photon sources for quantum communication and computation, using QDs coupled to photonic crystal cavities.
Reasons:- on-demand efficient single photon source
- controlled spontaneous emission lifetime
- high spontaneous emission coupling efficiency into cavity mode
- improved indistinguishability
- improved off-chip coupling efficiency
- spin-offs: improved LEDs
Materials:- Self-assembled InAs QDs embedded in GaAs
- wafers grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy (collaboration with Y. Yamamoto group (Stanford) and P. Petroff Group (UCSB)
- Photonic crystal fabrication: Vuckovic group
Collaborators Jelena Vuckovic (PI) Ilya Fushman Andrei Faraon - Bingyang Zhang and Yoshihisa Yamamoto, Stanford University
- Pierre Petroff Group, UCSB
